A brief history of the illustrations in this calendar, that are now in public domain.
Initially, Carroll wanted to use his own manuscript illustrations for the official publication of “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland“. However, he was discouraged from doing so and eventually admitted that he needed a professional illustrator.
He chose John Tenniel to illustrate his book and contacted him a friend. His initial intent was to order 12 woodblocks. At first, Tenniel was reluctant to take on the commission as he was preoccupied with other projects. On 5 April 1864, Tenniel finally consented.
Carroll expanded the number of illustrations several times, as he realised that the value of the book would be associated with the number of illustrations. At one time, he planned for there to be 20 or 24 illustrations – a number that would be increased even more later.
A selected few of these illustrations have been exhibited in this 2024 calendar, for your joy.

Archival Prints: All printed artworks are made using archival pigments and printed on paper, enabling them to last between 200-400 years.
Books: All Binder produced hardbound books are printed on premium Italian paper, and coated to last for a lifetime.

Try to keep the artwork away from moisture. Some level of moisture is okay, however, higher levels of moisture may lead to warping of the paper used in the artwork.
